DETROIT June 2, 2019 – AUTOParkit, along with automation partner Siemens and their local Michigan distributor Electro-Matic, co-sponsored the Trans Am Races at the 2019 Detroit Grand Prix. It was an opportunity to invite clients, vendors and staff to be track-side for two days of races, nationally televised on NBC, on Belle Isle just east of downtown Detroit. Nearly 200 guests attended over the two days and enjoyed racing from four different NASCAR divisions. While the Indy Race was the headliner, the Trans Am Race proved to be just as exciting. Guests had a vested interest in watching AUTOParkit’s own Lawless Alan drive the #52 Ford Mustang on both Saturday and Sunday.

Entire chalet crowd enjoys track-side view

Shawn Adams, vice president of sales and marketing for AUTOParkit, participated in the pre-race ceremony for Saturday’s Trans Am Race. Raj Batra, President of Siemens Digital Industries North America, had the honors of starting the Trans Am race on Sunday with those iconic words: “Gentlemen, start your engines.” With that, the race, along with the day, were underway.

Along with watching the races from a track-side chalet, each guest was able to walk through the paddock (garage) areas for a close look at the race cars, which provided excellent photo opportunities. There was also special access to the pit area. Additionally, attendees were able to experience the Fan Zone for food, memorabilia and live music at the concert arena. The private chalet was a short walk to the recently refurbished fountain on Belle Isle, which also served as the backdrop for the awards ceremony.

Paddock Area Crowded with Fans

Despite a record rainfall in Detroit this spring, the weather cooperated over the three-day event, bringing warm, sunny conditions except for a predicted short rain delay on Saturday. Surprisingly, nearly every guest weathered the inclement conditions and stayed for the last race of the day.

The weekend was filled with seasoned race fans and novices alike, but all agreed it was a wonderful experience. Said one attendee, “Thank you and the whole Dasher Lawless crew for a really great experience. I appreciate what it took on all counts to put that whole thing together. I never imagined I would be in the paddocks and viewing the pits at an Indy race.”
