A Look Back

‘Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.’ George Santayana,

The idea of semi-automated parking has been seen before. The question is why has it failed? In a word “reliability”. Or perhaps more precisely unreliable.

So why has this idea struggled recently?

Companies fail to leverage building expertise into the design so the automated parking systems do not integrate easily into the building construction standards and practices. This leads to delays, rework and work-arounds.

Some systems use hydraulics and/or proprietary custom controls technology, especially robotic controls which is difficult to sustain.

Other automated parking systems still require floors within parking garage which are too expensive

What has AutoParkit changed?

The AutoPakit System was conceived, designed and built from a developer’s perspective, not a control’s nor manufacturer’s; the system is architected in concert with building construction and not as an add-on or afterthought.

At AutoParkit we addressed the municipalities’ concerns by establishment of new building codes first, which helped insure success.

Additionally we leveraged well established Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS) from automotive manufacturing and repurposed it for commercial use.  This technology is over 30 years old. We have just repurposed it for a commercial application.

Most importantly we are delivery a Fully Automated Parking System. It is the fusion of a developer’s perspective with the legacy of ASRS and coupled with today’s leading edge IT capabilities that set the AutoParkit System apart.
